An Unusual Place To Get SaaS Product Inspiration Ideas From

Geographical intellectual transfer.

That’s what today’s article is about. If replications of Uber or what have you seem to not only appear but also thrive in China, the other way around can happen as well.

Slack just filed for its IPO today. I just wrote in the Ideas Centre about why and how it could happen in China — maybe at the same $16B-valuation scale.

Another post of mine in the Ideas Centre is about a Chinese startup that seems very smart: PinDuoDuo.

Why is it smart? In enforces the network effect in a brilliant manner.

Pinduoduo works this way: you, along with a group (either your friends or strangers. Or both), team up together to buy something in higher quantities.

Cherries, apples or household items — it’s not limited to one type of item. The purpose? You get them at a cheaper price, since the seller can handle bulk sales better.

That’s a very smart application of the network effect.

See what’s out there in the East and working — chances are it could be adapted to the Western society successfully.
