In truth, holidays are experiences as they’ve been continuously built on top of for many many years. We can even go as far as talking about the brand of Christmas or the brand of New Year’s holiday — but that’d be too nerdy. What we know for sure is that predominantly in the West, people celebrate this.
And one doesn’t even have to be Christian to feel the experience of this holiday. Just go for a walk on the street and it will be shown to you. Or watch the TV, Youtube etc etc.
Why does it still happen?
Because of the feelings that we get when we think about Christmas, the events that this day creates and the memories we’ve had in the past about it. Remember, they need a build-up. Because of what happened in previous years that makes people have a certain type of reaction when they think of the celebration.
And in honesty, we should all look more at holidays when we’re building something. They stood the test of time without a doubt and there are key elements one could incorporate. No one wonders who pays this elder man wearing a bright red suit to deliver so many gifts, what’s the CLV or what KPI’s he’s got to track and measure.
No. He gives away a lot of value and people love not only him but more than that. That could be one of the key concepts.
Today’s not about user churn or tech companies. Today is about the experience of Christmas which all of us are part of. A package of emotions that people celebrate every year.
Merry Christmas!
