There’s Opportunity In Deconstructing Magic

Once you go down the path of a certain industry, you learn its ins and outs. If it happens to be an industry where it looks like magic to outsiders — somehow this magic is deconstructed in front of you, and you know there aren’t any more magic tricks.

They’re just sequences of well-assembled actions. Bill Gates put it this way when talking about Steve Jobs:

“I was like a minor wizard, because he would be casting spells, and I would see people mesmerized,” said Gates, 63. “Because I’m a minor wizard, the spells don’t work on me. I could not cast those spells, but I’d see them and I’d say, ‘Hey, don’t!’”

What’s the thing about this wizard-spell analogy? There’s opportunity in deconstructing these “spells” or this “magic” to the masses.
